Shillong: Justice Revati Mohite Dere assumed charge as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court on Saturday, following a swearing-in ceremony held in Shillong.
The oath of office was administered by Meghalaya Governor C.H. Vijayashankar at the Durbar Hall of the Lok Bhavan.
Justice Dere succeeds Justice Soumen Sen, who has been transferred to the Kerala High Court.
Prior to her appointment in Meghalaya, Justice Dere served as a judge of the Bombay High Court.

A native of Pune, she completed her legal education at Symbiosis Law College and went on to build a long career in legal practice before the Bombay High Court.
She also served as a prosecutor for the Government of Maharashtra.
Justice Dere was appointed as an additional judge of the Bombay High Court in 2013 and was confirmed as a permanent judge in 2016.
