UMROI: The 16th edition of the Joint Military Exercise ‘Nomadic Elephant’ between the armies of India and Mongolia has concluded in Meghalaya after an intense 14 days of training and collaboration.
The closing ceremony was held at the Joint Training Node in Meghalaya’s Umroi on Tuesday.
The exercise, held from July 3-16, aimed at enhancing interoperability between both armies in conducting semi-conventional operations in semi-urban and mountainous terrain.
H.E. Major General Ganbyamba Sunrev, chief of general staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces, and Lt General Zubin A Minwalla, AVSM, YSM, GOC of the Trishakti Corps attended the event.
During the ceremony, both leaders engaged in a meaningful dialogue about future joint operations, reflecting the strengthened ties and mutual respect nurtured during the exercise.
Troops from both countries also showed unwavering commitment to fostering partnerships for regional security.
During the ceremony, the Indian contingent showcased their advanced capabilities through a spectacular display of cutting-edge weapons and equipment. The exhibition highlighted the technological advancement made under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, reinforcing India’s growing defense potential.
The event concluded with remarks emphasizing the importance of unity in tackling global challenges.
Exercise ‘Nomadic Elephant’ is an annual training event with Mongolia which is conducted alternatively in Mongolia and India. The 15th edition of the Joint Military Exercise ‘Nomadic Elephant’ was conducted in Mongolia’s Ulaanbaatar.
In May this year, the 12th Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting between the Defence Ministries of India and Mongolia took place in Ulaanbaatar on May 16-17 and reviewed the progress on various bilateral defence cooperation initiatives and identified means to further enhance cooperation between the two countries.
