SHILLONG: The Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organizations (CAHO), in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management Shillong (IIM Shillong), successfully organised a two-day online master class on Healthcare Management recently.
The event served as a precursor to the forthcoming six-month executive programme on Healthcare Management, a joint initiative by both institutions, slated to commence in June.
Under the coordination of Dr Jeet Patwari, the Zonal Chair (East) of CAHO, the programme attracted 262 participants from diverse regions of India and abroad.
The technical sessions featured esteemed speakers such as Professor Sanjeeb Kakoty and Professor Rohit Joshi from IIM Shillong, Dr Lallu Joseph from CMC Vellore, and Dr. Sanjeev Singh from AIMS, Faridabad/Kochi.
The primary objective of the Master Class programme was to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of management principles across various domains within the healthcare sector, fostering enhanced and safer delivery of patient care services.
Dr Vijay Agarwal, President of CAHO, underscored the organisation’s evolving mission and vision during his address.
He outlined CAHO’s transition from a focus on healthcare quality to becoming an internationally recognised institute dedicated to patient safety and quality enhancement, aiding healthcare facilities in the adoption of best practices.
Professor Kakoty highlighted the institution’s commitment to making a significant societal impact, both locally and beyond.
He stressed on the importance of collaboration in achieving excellence and highlighted IIM Shillong’s leadership in driving such endeavours.
Dr Joseph, Secretary General of CAHO, stressed the critical role of Healthcare Management within the healthcare system and the imperative of implementing patient safety protocols.
She also discussed CAHO’s forthcoming initiatives and its partnership with IIM Shillong to advance safer healthcare practices nationwide.
The Master Class served as a platform for knowledge exchange, fostering collaboration, and paving the way for the upcoming Executive Programme on Healthcare Management, aimed at grooming future leaders in healthcare administration and management.
