SHILLONG: In the serene backdrop of Umiam, the Eastern Air Command, on behalf of the Indian Air Force (IAF), mesmerised audiences with an enthralling air show, marking the 91st anniversary of the IAF, on Friday.
Spectators watched in awe as the ALH and Chinook helicopters, Dornier transport aircraft, and the SU-30 and Rafale fighter jets painted the sky with their coordinated manoeuvres.

The primary intention behind this captivating display was not just to exhibit the precision and proficiency of our Airforce personnel, but also to inspire the youth of Meghalaya and the broader Northeast to consider a distinguished career with the Indian Armed Forces.
The event wasn’t just limited to the air show over Umiam. On October 15, Guwahati too had its share of aerial wonders when the skies over Borjhar came alive with an aerial display at the Air Force Station. Part of the outreach initiative of HQ Eastern Air Command, this display in Guwahati echoed the excellence showcased at Umiam, solidifying the celebrations for IAF’s 91st anniversary.
Reflecting on the event, the PRO defence remarked, “The show was an immaculate display of flying skill, precision, and professionalism,” cementing the IAF’s reputation in the nation’s defence fabric.
