Shillong: W.R. Marbaniang, former Director General of Police of Meghalaya, passed away on Tuesday afternoon at Supercare Hospital in Shillong.
He had been battling kidney sepsis along with other health complications and was admitted to hospital last Tuesday.
Marbaniang passed away around 2.15 pm. He is survived by his wife and two children — his daughter Lorina and son William.
He served as the state’s DGP from January 31, 2005, to March 21, 2007.
The funeral service will be held on January 22, 2026, at 11 am at his residence in Nongrimbah, Laitumkhrah, followed by cremation at his maternal village in Laitkroh, Mawjrong.
