Shillong: Eight legislators were inducted into the Meghalaya Cabinet on Monday during a swearing-in ceremony at Raj Bhavan in Shillong, where Governor C.H. Vijayashankar administered the oath of office and secrecy.
The event, attended by senior leaders, officials, and family members, marked a significant reshuffle aimed at ensuring wider regional representation in the Council of Ministers.
The new ministers include Timothy D. Shira from Resubelpara, Metbah Lyngdoh from Mairang, Sanbor Shullai from South Shillong, Lahkmen Rymbui from Amlarem, Brening A. Sangma from Dalu, Sosthenes Sohtun from Jirang, Wailadmiki Shylla from Jowai, and Methodius Dkhar from Mawshynrut. Portfolios for the ministers will be announced soon.

Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, speaking after the ceremony, said the reshuffle followed extensive consultations with coalition partners and senior leaders, with particular attention to balanced regional representation, including Ri-Bhoi and West Garo Hills.
He acknowledged that reshuffles are challenging but stressed they are necessary for inclusivity and effective governance.
Calling it a mid-term reset, Sangma said he expects the new ministers to strengthen the Cabinet’s work while senior members provide guidance.
