Tura: Authorities have suspended vehicular movement across a key bridge in Chaygaon, Assam, after structural concerns rendered it unsafe for travel.
The bridge, located along the vital Tura-Guwahati corridor, has prompted a full traffic diversion to ensure public safety.
In response to the closure, both public and private vehicles commuting between Tura and Guwahati are now being rerouted through Kukurmara.
Officials estimate that this detour could extend travel times by approximately 20 to 25 minutes.
Despite the inconvenience, the diversion is being implemented as a preventive measure to avoid any potential accidents linked to the bridge’s deteriorating condition.
Traffic officials are actively managing the flow along the new route and have appealed to drivers and passengers for cooperation.

Travelers are encouraged to account for possible delays and adjust their schedules accordingly.
Meanwhile, technical teams are expected to carry out further inspections and evaluations of the Chaygaon bridge to determine the necessary course of action—be it repairs or reconstruction.
Until further notice, commuters are urged to stay updated through official channels and continue using the Kukurmara route.
