Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has announced that the central government has released the final installment of the scholarship amounting to Rs 85.0779 crore, which will benefit 27,327 eligible students in the state.
The fund for the scholarship has been released under the scheme called ‘Umbrella Scheme of Post Matric Scholarship for ST Students for the Academic Session 2023-2024’.

Providing details of the scholarship disbursement, the chief minister stated that a total of 76,755 students had applied for the scheme.
On June 24, 2024, Rs 42.32 crore was distributed to 17,364 students under the scheme.
Subsequently, on November 20, 2024, a second installment of Rs 66.67 crore was disbursed, benefiting 32,064 students.
CM Sangma said, “The third and final installment of Rs 85.0779 crore will benefit 27,327 eligible students of the state. The funds will reflect in students’ accounts within the next 1-2 days.”
The Meghalaya government is committed to improving and accelerating the scholarship process each year to ensure prompt financial assistance for deserving students, he added.
