Assam Rifles DG commends troops for upholding peace in Manipur amidst strife

SHILLONG: In light of the ongoing strife in Manipur, Lieutenant General PC Nair, Director General of Assam Rifles, on Friday, commended the troops for their impeccable and unbiased conduct.

Acknowledging their effort, he said that they have played a significant role in maintaining control of the situation.

“Our battalions deployed in the other states of the Northeast and the Kashmir valley have also done a magnificent job,” he said, addressing the Assam Rifles Inspector General’s Conference 2023 in Laitkor, Shillong.

The Director General also praised the leadership of Formation and Unit Commanders and their junior leaders for effectively addressing the diverse challenges of the Northeast.

Stressing on the historical role of Assam Rifles in identifying with the people of the Northeast and ensuring their security and well-being, he further urged them to stay informed about the prevailing situation and remain vigilant in the dynamic environment.

Held at the Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles, the conference, which was chaired by Lieutenant General Nair, brought together Formation Commanders, Battalion Commanders, and Staff Officers from Headquarters DGAR and Formations.

In his address, Lieutenant General Nair also stressed on several key priorities for the paramilitary force, including the significance of focusing on the combat potential in conventional operations through regular exercises and rehearsals.

The DG also recognised the Formation Commanders for their contribution to environmental conservation by planting the highest number of saplings among all Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) in the Northeast.

He further mentioned the importance of providing healthy rations to the force and noted the induction of new items such as millets in their diet.

Ensuring the well-being of veterans of Assam Rifles remains a top priority, the DG informed that this year, 11 ex-servicemen (ESM) rallies were conducted, and nearly 500 grievances were successfully resolved.

The Assam Rifles Inspector General’s Conference, held twice a year, is a dedicated platform for enhancing the operational and administrative efficiency of the paramilitary force to carry out its tasks successfully in the Northeast.
