SHILLONG: In a spirited display of athleticism and unity, Assam Rifles organised its third edition of the annual half marathon in Laitkor, Shillong on Sunday.

The event, aimed to promote the “Fit India Movement” for individuals aged 18 and above, featured two categories – 21 km and 10 km.

A total of 747 participants took on the challenge of the gruelling 21 km half marathon, while 694 individuals competed in the 10 km run, showcasing unwavering support to the event.

In the under-30 category, Emphius Nongrum emerged victorious in the men’s 21 km run, while Bandasharai Marwei claimed the top spot in the female category.

In the 10 km run, Iohborlang Nongspung secured the first position among males, and Marqueenless Ramsiej achieved victory in the female category.

The event was graced by the presence of the Governor of Meghalaya, Phagu Chauhan, who served as the Chief Guest.
