SHILLONG: This Valentine’s Day will be special for the OTT fans in Shillong. And why would it not be – Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment is coming up with a series featuring a heart-warming love-story based out of the Meghalaya’s capital.
Set to premier in Amazon Prime on the D-day, Love Storiyaan will shine the spotlight on the romantic journey of a real-life couple from diverse backgrounds in Shillong.
One of the episodes of the series will feature Shillong’s radio jockey, Nicholas Jonathan Kharnami, affectionately known as RJ Nicky, and his remarkable love story with Rajni Chhetri, a college professor, and his former rival.
To be directed by Vivek Soni, renowned for his work on films like Ra.one and Udta Punjab, Nicky and Rajni’s story promises to captivate audiences with its authenticity and heartfelt narrative.
“The plot, when I read it, immediately clicked something in me. It was ordinary yet extraordinary, and this was something I wanted to do,” Soni told a local daily.
Shot amidst the picturesque landscapes of Meghalaya and Assam, the story captures the essence of the couple’s love story, in tune with the vibrant culture and allure of the region.
The series reportedly draws inspiration from the India Love Project, with a keen focus on showcasing the untold narratives from the Northeast.
Somen Mishra, who conceptualised the series, expressed his enthusiasm for representing the rich cultural tapestry of the Northeast through compelling storytelling.
“We do not see a lot of Northeast representation in characters or actors, so when we came across the story on India Love Project, and how beautiful the story was, we jumped at the opportunity,” the daily quoted Mishar as saying.
Six accomplished directors have been roped in to direct the series.
As the series gears up to premiere on Valentine’s Day, audiences can expect to be swept away by the magic of genuine love stories that transcend boundaries and inspire hope.
