He said that authorities are working to ensure the well-being of the state’s students amid growing concerns, with more students expected to arrive shortly.

“We are expecting some more students who are still on their way, he added.

The Meghalaya government had earlier imposed a nightly curfew within 200 meters of the Indo-Bangladesh border in South West Garo Hills District. District Magistrate Hema Nayak issued the order, restricting movement between 8:00 pm and 6:00 am daily.

Besides Meghalaya, the Assam government has also stepped up measures to support students from the state who are currently pursuing their education in various parts of India.

In an official notice issued on May 10 (Saturday) from the Office of the Resident Commissioner at Assam Bhawan in New Delhi, a dedicated helpline and contact persons have been designated for students requiring any form of assistance.

The notice urges students from Assam facing any difficulties or requiring assistance to get in touch with Assam Bhawan in New Delhi.

The Assam Bhawan has assured that these contact lines will remain operational 24×7, ensuring that students can reach out for help at any hour.
