Shillong: With only a few days left until the 6th Meghalaya Games, preparations across various sports venues are in full swing.
Some venues are already complete, while others are in the final stages of preparation.
The West Jaintia Hills District Administration, in coordination with the organisers, is working tirelessly to ensure all logistics and facilities are in place for the smooth execution of the much-anticipated event.
Scheduled from January 20 to 25, 2025, the 6th Meghalaya Games will feature 29 sports disciplines. Two major events—swimming and golf—will take place in Shillong.
The swimming competition will be held at the Caroline Swimming Pool, while the Assam Rifles Golf Course in Laitkor will host the Golf event.

The remaining sports, including archery, arm wrestling, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, cycling, football, gymnastics, judo, karate-do, kho-kho, muay Thai, shooting, softball, sports climbing, table tennis, taekwondo, lawn tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, wushu, traditional sports, roll ball, Yogasana, and lawn bowling, will be spread across various locations in Jowai Town, Wahiajer, and Khliehtryshi in the West Jaintia Hills District.
The Games will feature around 3,899 participants, promising a diverse and competitive showcase of talent.
The official curtain-raiser for the 6th Meghalaya Games will be held on January 13, 2025, at 1 pm at the District Library Auditorium in Mynthong, Jowai.
The event will be attended by the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Shakliar Warjri, and the guest of honour, Local MLA and Chairman of the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA), Wailadmiki Shylla.
As excitement builds, all eyes are on West Jaintia Hills, where the stage is set for one of the most eagerly awaited sporting events in the state.
