Killing: A woman was found dead late Monday at Kamla Bagan in Ri Bhoi district, her head severely crushed in what authorities believe may have been a hit-and-run involving a truck.
The deceased, identified as Blessbina Marak from Jorbil Killing village, was discovered by residents passing through the area, who immediately informed Khanapara Police Station.
Officers reached the spot shortly after and sent the body to Civil Hospital Nongpoh for post-mortem.

The driver, 38-year-old Warilang Dkhar of Nongjngi in West Jaintia Hills, was reportedly travelling from Guwahati to Shillong when he hit a roadside shop and veered into the opposite lane around 9:30 pm.
According to police, he continued driving erratically until local residents and VDP members chased him down and managed to stop the vehicle. No injuries were reported.
Terming the behaviour extremely hazardous, police said such driving could easily have resulted in a major accident.
They thanked the public for intervening and confirmed that legal action would be taken.
