Imphal: A major fire swept through Moreh town in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district on Saturday, reducing at least ten houses to ashes, officials said. No casualties have been reported.
The blaze is suspected to have started from an electrical short circuit at the residence of one Ethem Khan in Ward No. 5 before spreading rapidly to adjacent homes.
Within minutes, the flames engulfed a cluster of houses, leaving extensive damage in the densely populated area near the India-Myanmar border.
Firefighters from the Moreh Fire Sub-Station immediately responded to the emergency and were later assisted by a team from Myanmar’s Tamu Fire Service.
