Imphal: Security forces have arrested six militants linked to five proscribed insurgent groups during a series of counter-insurgency operations in three districts of Manipur over the past two days, police said on Sunday.
The arrests were made in Bishnupur, Imphal West, and Thoubal districts in operations aimed at curbing militant activity in the state.
According to police, an active woman cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibangnganba) faction was apprehended on Friday from Chingmeirong in Imphal West.
In a separate operation the same day, security personnel detained a member of the KCP (MFL) faction from his residence at Haobam Marak, also in Imphal West.
On Saturday, two active members of the KCP (Apunba) faction were arrested from Phayeng in Imphal West, police said.

That same day, security forces picked up a cadre of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) from Samaram Mamang in Thoubal district, and an active member of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive) — PREPAK (PRO) — from Thangtek in Imphal West.
Police said all six suspects are under interrogation to determine their recent activities, possible involvement in past incidents, and any links to ongoing militant operations. Further investigation is underway.
