Imphal: Security forces have arrested six people, including two militants, in separate operations targeting extortion activities across Imphal East and West districts, police said on Saturday.
Four individuals were held on Friday for allegedly extorting money from shops and residents in the Telipati area of Imphal East.
On the same day, an active member of the banned People’s Liberation Army was arrested from Huikap Makha Leikai in the district.
In a separate operation on Wednesday, a militant of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) was apprehended from Moidangpok Maning in Imphal West for allegedly extorting from the public and intimidating victims in cases involving crimes against women.

Security forces also recovered a cache of arms from Lousi Pat Chingkhok in Kakching district on Friday, including an INSAS rifle, a single-barrel rifle, a locally made pistol, over 60 rounds of assorted ammunition, two explosive packets, and two detonators.
In another operation at Langol Usoi Makhong in Imphal West, personnel seized a .303 rifle with a magazine, a 9mm pistol with eight live rounds, a .32 pistol, two hand grenades with detonators, and 208 rounds of ammunition, police said.
