IMPHAL: In two significant operations, security forces have seized a huge cache of weapons and ammunition in Manipur‘s Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts.
Acting on specific inputs, the security forces first launched an operation at the Sielmat village of Churachandpur district on Wednesday.
As per reports, the integrated operation by the army, paramilitary forces, and Manipur police was conducted with extensive planning and judicious use of explosive detection dogs, metal detectors, and other state-of-the-art equipment.
Two Muzzleloading guns, seven 12-bore cartridges, and one Kenwood set were recovered during a search operation and area domination exercise conducted by the security forces in Churachandpur.

In the follow-up action, the team also conducted an operation at Kangchup Ponlen village in Kangpokpi district.

The operation resulted in the seizure of an SLR with magazine, a .303 Rifle without bolt, a single barrel rifle, two improvised mortars, one HE-36 hand grenade, three live ammunition rounds, three Baofeng Radio sets, 29 detonators, and 14 fired cases.

These two districts predominantly inhabited are stated to be the epicenters of the ongoing communal violence in the state.
Although no arrests were made, the confiscated items were handed over to the state police for further action.
