Imphal: In a major breakthrough, security forces on Tuesday (June 3) apprehended four cadres of the Chin Kuki Mizo Army (CKMA) in Manipur‘s Churachandpur district.
The cadres of Chin Kuki Mizo Army (IMBVV), a non-SoO group, were arrested by the Assam Rifles from the Kerith village at Rengkai in Churachanpur.
The arrested cadres have been identified as Samuel Kamninhao, Hegun Seimingun, Thangminhou Touthang, and Mangkhohao Touthang.
According to police, those arrested were allegedly involved in arms smuggling and extorting locals. Two 9 mm live rounds and three mobile phones were seized from their possession.
A case was registered at the Churachandpur police station under various sections of the BNS, the Arms Act and the UAPA.
In a separate operation, security forces dismantled a temporary camp believed to have been set up by suspected cadres of the Kuki-Zo-Hmar underground outfit along the Manipur-Assam border. The camp was located in the Rashidpur area in Jiribam district, bordering Assam.
Based on specific intelligence, a joint operation by central and state forces led to the seizure of a large cache of arms, ammunition, and warlike stores.
During the raid, the forces recovered an assortment of firearms, including one double-barrelled gun, three country-made barrel guns, and a pompi gun.
Ammunition recovered from the site included 42 live rounds for AK-series rifles, one M16 round, one SLR round, seven sniper rounds, and one INSAS round. Authorities also found numerous spent cartridges—13 from AK rifles, 23 from M16s, five from SLRs, 11 from sniper rifles, and three from INSAS rifles.

In addition, two hand grenades, seven bulletproof vests (without plates), two helmets, three camouflage handbags, two magazine pouches, and nine pairs of combat shoes were seized from the hideout.
