New Delhi: Parliament on Tuesday approved supplementary demands for grants, authorising Rs. 51,463 crore in additional spending for the current fiscal year and clearing the Manipur Budget for 2025-26.

The Rajya Sabha returned four bills to the Lok Sabha after a discussion led by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The supplementary demands for grants include a gross additional expenditure of over Rs. 6.78 lakh crore, with Rs. 6.27 lakh crore offset by savings and receipts, resulting in net additional spending of Rs. 51,462.86 crore.

This amount also includes Rs. 5.54 lakh crore allocated for debt repayment.

The Manipur Budget for 2025-26 estimates total receipts of Rs. 35,368 crore and total expenditure at Rs. 35,104 crore.

The state’s own tax revenue is projected at Rs. 2,634 crore, while non-tax revenue stands at Rs. 400 crore.
