Imphal: The prime accused in the September 19 attack on an Assam Rifles convoy in Manipur, which left two personnel dead, has been arrested, Manipur Police said on Wednesday.
A substantial cache of arms and ammunition linked to the ambush was also seized following information provided by the suspect.
Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Singh said a coordinated operation was launched in the Kameng area on September 24 around 1 am, involving district police from Imphal West and Bishnupur, the 33rd Assam Rifles, and other security units.

“During the operation, Khomdram Ojit Singh, also known as Keilal, aged 47, was apprehended. He admitted to being a bailed-out member of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and confirmed his direct involvement in the ambush,” the DGP said.
On September 19, a convoy of the Assam Rifles was ambushed, resulting in the deaths of two jawans and injuries to five others.
Authorities have said that raids are ongoing to apprehend other individuals involved in the attack.
