Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended warm greetings to the people of Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura on their respective statehood days, praising their cultural richness, development journey and contributions to India’s growth.
Greeting the people of Tripura, the Prime Minister praised the state for its blend of tradition and modernity and expressed his wishes for the state’s continued development.
In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “Warm greetings to the people of Tripura on their Statehood Day. Tripura’s journey is marked by a remarkable blend of tradition and modernity.”
“The state has witnessed pioneering transformations in diverse fields, and its people are adding momentum to India’s growth trajectory. I pray that Tripura prospers significantly in the coming times,” the post read.
On the occasion of Manipur Statehood Day, the Prime Minister acknowledged the state’s contribution to national progress and praised its cultural and sporting spirit.
In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “On the occasion of Manipur Statehood Day, I extend my warm greetings to my sisters and brothers of the state. People from Manipur are enriching the progress of India. This state’s passion towards sports, culture and nature is noteworthy. May the state continue to move forward on the path of development in the times to come.”
Extending greetings to Meghalaya, the Prime Minister lauded the state’s cultural vibrancy and scenic beauty, while underlining its role in the country’s development.
In another post on X, PM Modi wrote, “I convey my heartfelt greetings to the people of Meghalaya on their Statehood Day. The people of Meghalaya have made strong contributions to the development of our nation. The state’s cultural vibrancy and scenic beauty are widely admired. May Meghalaya keep scaling new heights of development in the future.”
The North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971, reorganised the states in the strategic northeastern region of the country. Under this Act, Manipur and Tripura were granted statehood on January 21, 1972; prior to which they were both union territories, whereas the state of Meghalaya was carved out from Assam due to its distinct terrain from the rest of Assam.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended greetings to the people of Manipur, calling the state their pride.
In a post on X, Shah wrote, “Statehood Day greetings to our sisters and brothers of Manipur. Blessed with a vibrant culture and talented people, Manipur has always been our pride. May the state reach new heights in the times to come.”
Shah also extended greetings to the people of Tripura, lauding the state’s development and calling it a proud contributor to India’s growth.

Calling Meghalaya a hub of rich biodiversity and a confluence of cultures and traditions, Shah said the state strongly reinforces the spirit of India and expressed hope that it would achieve new milestones in development.
