Imphal: Manipur High Court Chief Justice Siddharth Mridul has announced that a permanent mediation centre will soon be established at the high court.
He made the announcement on Monday at the inaugural session of the 40-hour mediation training programme jointly organized by the High Court of Manipur, High Court Legal Services Committee and Mediation Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) of the Supreme Court of India.
This initiative aims to provide a more efficient and amicable platform for dispute resolution, reducing the burden on the court and ensuring timely justice.
Attending the inauguration program as chief guest, Siddharth Mridul said the 40-hour mediation training program is being conducted specifically for advocates of High Court Bar Association.
The program, which will conclude on October 18, is designed to equip legal professionals with the necessary skills to mediate disputes effectively.
Mediation provides an effective alternative to reach an agreement between two arguing parties as a mechanism for promoting mutual respect, dialogue, and reconciliation, he said.
According to the chief justice, the permanent mediation centre at Manipur High Court is aimed at facilitating early dispute resolution and reducing the court’s workload.
“The trained mediators will play a crucial role in ensuring that a greater number of cases are resolved amicably,” Mridul stated.
