Imphal: Manipur Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam has informed the Assembly that the peace agreement signed with the United National Liberation Front (P) is in force and that 1,435 cadres of the outfit have been verified so far.
The minister was responding to a query raised by Surjakumar Okram regarding the current status of the tripartite peace accord involving the UNLF(P), the Government of Manipur, and the Government of India.
The militant group had signed the peace agreement in November 2023.
Konthoujam said the verification process of the outfit’s cadres has identified a total of 1,435 members so far, adding that each verified cadre is presently being provided a monthly stipend of Rs 6,000.

The home minister further stated that the Centre has released Rs 5.83 crore in five instalments between December 2023 and April 2024 to support the implementation of the agreement.
He added that a proposal has been submitted seeking Rs 5.16 crore to cover stipend payments for the period from May to October 2024, while efforts are underway to clear pending dues.
