Imphal: The North Eastern Council (NEC) has released Rs 6,19,49,507 in May 2025 for 9 development projects in Manipur, according to the NEC yearbook 2025.
The NEC Yearbook 2025 is a comprehensive document that captures key socio-economic indicators and major development milestones across the North Eastern Region (NER).
Published by the NEC Secretariat in Shillong, the yearbook serves as a vital resource for policymakers, researchers, scholars, and stakeholders. It offers insights into various development parameters and is available online at necouncil.gov.in.
These funds were released to support a range of sectors, including tourism, industry, agriculture, transport and communication, science and technology, human resource development, irrigation, flood control and water management, and the promotion of culture and heritage, among others.
Among the specific projects, the NEC released Rs 82,34,979 for the construction of a multi-facility center at IGNTU-RCM in Kangpokpi district. Other key initiatives include Rs 37,50,000 for an integrated farming system model demonstration, and Rs 62,61,500 for backward community development in the Zeme Tousem sub-division of Tamenglong district.
Infrastructure development also received significant funding, with Rs 2,00,00,000 allocated for the construction of a mini-stadium at Luangrang (Nungnang) in Noney district.
Additionally, Rs 8,00,000 was provided for a seven-day livelihood skill development and technology intervention training program cum workshop and exhibition on Kouna craft (water reed) in Khongabok village, Thoubal district.
Further investment includes Rs 59,73,750 for furniture and fixtures at the SC/ST boys and girls hostel of the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) in Imphal.
A total of Rs 1,35,69,278 was released for three projects in Senapati district: a multi-utility building for the Thangal tribe, a 25-bedded residential hostel for girls at Makeng Cheijinba village, and a common community pond at Angkailongdi village.

Finally, Rs 26,40,000 was provided for a tissue culture facility to produce disease-free citrus planting material, and Rs 7,20,000 for a training program on cane and bamboo products for Churachandpur district.
