Imphal: BJP MLA T Robindro on Saturday expressed optimism about the formation of a new government in Manipur, citing significant progress in restoring law and order and ongoing peace talks between the Meitei and Kuki communities.
Speaking at a program in the Kakching district, the legislator from Thanga constituency remarked, “Law and order has improved considerably. We are confident that the central government will facilitate the formation of a new government soon. Talks between Meitei and Kuki civil groups have already begun, and discussions involving legislators from both communities are expected in the near future to further the peace process.”
Addressing concerns about political unity, Robindro assured reporters that BJP legislators remain united.
“There is no division among us. We are firm in our resolve to keep Manipur united and will not allow any division of the state,” he stated.
Manipur has been under President’s rule since February 13, following the resignation of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on February 9.
The state assembly, which has its tenure until 2027, has been placed under suspended animation.

The state has faced ongoing challenges since ethnic violence erupted in May 2023 between the Meitei community in the Imphal valley and the Kuki community in the surrounding hill districts.
The violence, triggered by a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ protesting the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe status, has claimed over 260 lives.
