IMPHAL: The North Eastern Council (NEC) has withdrawn its ‘Draft Vision 2047’ document after a mistake was identified in the document related to the tribal communities of the Northeastern region in the context of Manipur.
Upon identifying the mistake, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren communicated with DoNER minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and directed Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi and officials concerned to take steps to make necessary corrections.
Under ‘Chapter 3: Art, Culture and Natural Heritage’ which mentions the migration of ethnic tribes in the NE region, the term “Kukis (Chin)” has been found to be falsely described as ‘from the Chin State of Manipur’ in the vision document.
The DoNER ministry promptly responded and the Draft NEC Vision 2047 has now been withdrawn for corrections.
Citing the need for rectification, Planning Advisor Som Kamei, in a statement to respective chief secretaries of the NE states, confirmed the withdrawal of the document, which was circulated on August 9 and August 17.
