Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand has announced that renovation work on the Moirang-Wangoo road in Bishnupur district will commence within 15 days.
He also revealed that repair of the Sugnu-Napet bridge will start on Thursday under the supervision of Sanasam Premchandra, MLA of Kumbi Assembly Constituency, and is expected to be completed within five days. The repair is aimed at easing the return and resettlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Napet.
The Chief Minister made the announcement on Wednesday, during a felicitation programme held at the residence of MLA Sanasam Premchandra in Kumbi.
During the event, the Chief Minister also directed Bishnupur Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam to submit a detailed progress report on the construction of prefabricated housing units being developed for displaced families in the district.

He further stated that once the Moirang-Wangoo road section via Kumbi is completed, additional road projects in the surrounding areas will be undertaken in a phased manner.
The Manipur Chief Minister called for the phased resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) currently housed in relief camps across the state, particularly those displaced from Churachandpur, Moreh and parts of Imphal, and said the government was preparing a comprehensive rehabilitation plan to facilitate their return to their original homes.
Reconstruction of damaged houses, he added, would be undertaken with assistance from Central funds.
The Chief Minister noted that a lack of trust between communities has restricted free movement in certain areas. He urged citizens to actively contribute to rebuilding mutual confidence, asserting that without peace, meaningful development in the state cannot be attained.
