In a tragic incident, a minor boy was killed, and his father sustained severe injuries after a bomb explosion in Manipur’s Noney district on Saturday, reports said.
The incident occurred at around 8:30 am today when a remnant lathode bomb exploded at Namkaolong part -II (Taolingpung village) under Khoupum Police Station.
As per reports, the deceased child has been identified as three-year-old Kalaingam Pamei. The child died on the spot due to the intensity of the blast. The injured father has been identified as Thuankungam Pamei, 40.
According to sources, the incident occurred when the father attempted to dispose of a bomb that had reportedly been brought home by children, which exploded after he slipped and fell.
Eyewitnesses stated that the blast severely injured him, shattering both his legs from the knees.

The child died of multiple injuries on the spot, and his seriously injured father was rushed to RIMS Hospital in Imphal after receiving first aid at Khoupum Primary Health Centre, Noney.
After completing necessary procedures, the body of the deceased child was also transported to JNIMS, Imphal for post-mortem examination.
Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation, while further details are awaited.
