IMPHAL: Manipuri Film “Oneness” has been selected as the sole entry from Northeast India for the prestigious 14th Bangalore Queer Film Festival 2024.
The film will have its Bangalore premiere on August 24 at MEDAI—The Stage, Koramangala. The Bangalore Queer Film Festival will take place from August 23 to August 25.
The film, helmed by director Priyakanta Laishram, was earlier selected for its world premiere at the esteemed KASHISH Pride Film Festival 2024, the biggest queer film festival in South Asia.
The Manipur film has already made history as the first film from the state to focus on same-sex relationships.
Inspired by a tragic real-life incident that shook the region in 2013, ‘Oneness’ delves into the complexities of same-sex relationships in the region.
Produced by Roushil Singla and Priyakanta Laishram, the film features Maya Choudhury, Priyakanta Laishram, Suraj Ngashepam, Sachinker Sagolsem, Harendra Laishram, Ramva Leishangthem, Rojesh Saikhom in key roles.

The film explores the complexities of love and relationships within the context of Manipuri society, shedding light on the struggles faced by individuals in same-sex relationships.

The film’s selection for BQFF 2024 is a significant milestone for the Manipuri film industry and the LGBTQ+ community in the Northeast.
