Imphal: A woman from Manipur was allegedly assaulted near the Saket District Court Complex in South Delhi on Sunday evening after she and her friend objected to alleged remarks made by a group of men, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred while the woman and her friend were walking in a nearby park. A group of men reportedly made inappropriate comments at them, prompting one of the women to protest.
An argument soon followed and escalated into a physical confrontation, during which the woman from Manipur was allegedly attacked.
Police said the accused were also alleged to have used belts during the assault.
The injured woman was later taken to a hospital for treatment. Officials said preliminary medical reports indicate that she suffered minor injuries and is currently in stable condition.
Police teams have contacted the victim and are maintaining regular communication with her while assuring that strict action will be taken against those involved in the incident.
Investigators are examining CCTV footage from cameras installed in the area to identify the suspects. Efforts are also underway to determine whether the accused resides in the same locality.

The incident comes just days after another case in which three students from Arunachal Pradesh were allegedly subjected to racial abuse by a couple in Malviya Nagar in South Delhi. In that case, the police had registered a case and subsequently arrested the accused.
