Imphal: The governments of Uttar Pradesh and Manipur have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for implementing ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ programme.
‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ programme aims to enhance interaction and promote mutual understanding between people of different states or UTs.
The states carry out activities to promote a sustained and structured cultural connection in the areas of language learning, culture, traditions & music, tourism & cuisine, sports and sharing of best practices, etc.
The signing ceremony was held in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. The event, organized by the Uttar Pradesh Department of Tourism & Culture, was attended by several dignitaries, including UP Minister of Culture & Tourism Jayveer Singh, Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay, and Principal Secretary (Tourism & Culture) Mikesh Kumar Meshram.
The Government of Manipur was represented by Commissioner (Art & Culture) M Joy Singh, who was accompanied by Art & Culture Deputy Director (Programme) G Dharmadas Sharma. The Government of Uttar Pradesh was represented by Special Secretary (Culture) Ravindra Kumar.

After the signing of the MoU, M Joy delivered a formal address. This was followed by a cultural presentation featuring ‘Ihougal Jagoi’ and ‘Thang Ta’ from Manipur.
The MoU will come into force from the date of signing and will be valid for three years which may be renewed for another three years, a statement said.
