Imphal: Security forces recovered and neutralised 27 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Manipur’s Imphal East district, police said on Friday.
The country-made bombs were detected during a search operation on Thursday at a location near Monglham village and were subsequently defused, a senior police officer said.
In a separate operation, security forces also recovered three firearms along with ammunition from the Langdum Nungjengbi area of the district on Wednesday, the officer added.
Search and combing operations have been continuing across Manipur since ethnic violence erupted in the state two years ago. The clashes between Meitei and Kuki-Zo groups, which began in May 2023, have so far claimed more than 260 lives and displaced thousands of people.
