“And whereas, I consider the in-person attendance of Keisham Meghachandra Singh Son of L. Keisliam Kullabidhu Singh necessary to give evidence & for production of records in connection with the investigation or proceedings under PMLA,2002 in the above mentioned/said case. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me under sub-section (2) and sub section (3) of section 50 of PMLA, 2002. Congress leaders, including Jairam Ramesh, called it a political vendetta against those criticising the government.
Ramesh said that the summons was intended to silence Singh, who has been vocal against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

However, the leader did not appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday. He claimed that he received the notice on Monday only and was unable to appear on time. “I don’t understand why the ED summoned me. I am an MLA, not a minister,” he said.
Extending his support for Meghachandra, Manipur Congress spokesperson N Bupendra Meitei said that the party would fight the matter legally in court.
