Imphal: Authorities in Manipur have launched an investigation after a senior police officer posted in Churachandpur district and his family were allegedly threatened on social media, officials said on Sunday.
In a statement, the Manipur Police confirmed that the officer had been targeted by “anti-social elements” through online platforms.
“An incident has come to light wherein a senior officer of Churachandpur Police and his family were threatened online,” the statement said.
Police have registered a case and begun efforts to trace those responsible.

The statement warned that any attempt to intimidate or obstruct law enforcement officers from performing their duties “will not be tolerated.”
Authorities also appealed to citizens to refrain from sharing or promoting such threatening content, cautioning that “misuse of social media to spread fear or threats will invite stern legal action.”
