Imphal: Manipur police arrested an active cadre of the banned PREPAK (PRO) outfit on Wednesday in Imphal West District.
The arrested individual has been identified as Sapam Jamesbond (25) alias Nganba. He was arrested from Singjamei Makha Kakwa Asem Leikai under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West District.

“The arrested person was directly involved in extortion activities by serving monetary demands and collecting money from the general public, government offices, pradhans, businessmen and shops etc,” police said.
Police recovered two mobile handsets, cash amounting to Rs 800 and a four-wheeler from his possession.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities focused on finding further connections and potential accomplices in the extortion ring.

In a separate operation, police has arrested an active member of the proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) outfit and a suspect linked to a recent murder case.
The arrested individual has been identified as Shamjetsabam Romananda Singh (23).
According to reports, the cadre was apprehended on Tuesday from Imphal International Airport under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West District.
In another operation on Wednesday, the police apprehended Potshangbam Sanahan Meitei (44) from Poirei, Imphal East, in connection with the murder of Laishram Malemngamba (19), which took place on February 10, 2025. The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the case.
