IMPHAL: In a major crackdown on militants, Manipur Police arrested 3 cadres of the proscribed outfit Kanglei Yawol Kunna Lup (KYKL) from Changangei Uchekon in Imphal West District on Sunday.
The arrested persons were identified as Oinam Milan Singh (52), Yumnam Ranbir Singh (51) and Khaidem Dhanabir Meitei (24).
According to police, all three were involved in extortion activities in and around the Imphal area.
Police recovered four mobile handsets, two Aadhaar cards, two driving licenses, two PAN cards, one voter ID card, three wallets, a total cash sum of Rs 9,125, and a four-wheeler vehicle from their possession.
Besides, the security forces also recovered arms and ammunition in Thoubal district on Monday during a search operation and area domination exercise in the fringe and vulnerable areas of both hill and valley districts of the state.
During the operation at the Waithou area, a 9mm pistol along with a magazine, a HE-36 hand grenade, ten live ammunition rounds, and a smoke grenade were recovered from the area of Thoubal district.
Manipur police has taken up strict security measures in all vulnerable locations.
Security convoys were provided to 84 vehicles carrying essential items along the NH-2 to ensure the safe movements of the vehicles in sensitive stretches.

A total of 105 nakas and checkpoints have been installed in different districts of the state, both in the hill and the valley.
173 persons have been detained in connection with violations in different districts of the state, police said.
