Imphal: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla reviewed the law and order situation of the state on Tuesday, the Raj Bhavan said in a statement.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary PK Singh, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, DGP Rajiv Singh along with senior officials from the Army, Assam Rifles, BSF, Manipur Police and CRPF.
“This was a follow-up meeting after the security situation of Manipur was reviewed at a meeting held in New Delhi recently, under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah,” it added.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while reviewing the security situation in Manipur on March 1, directed security forces to ensure free movement of people on all roads in Manipur from March 8.
The review meeting at North Block in New Delhi was attended by Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, state Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, DGP Rajiv Singh, Intelligence Bureau chief Tapan Deka, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, DGs of CRPF, BSF and Assam Rifles and senior officers of the Indian Army and Ministry of Home Affairs.
He also stated that “strict action should be taken against anyone attempting to create obstructions”.
Shah asked the security establishment to focus on the recovery of weapons looted from police armouries.
He directed that the fencing work on both sides of the designated entry points along Manipur’s border with Myanmar should be completed at the earliest. To make the state drug-free, he said the entire network involved in the drug trade should be dismantled.

This was the first security review meeting on Manipur that Union Minister Amit Shah chaired after the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh on February 9.
The Centre imposed President’s rule in the state on February 13 and the responsibility of the state administration and law and order passed into the hands of Governor Bhalla.
