Imphal: The Manipur government has called on citizens to remain calm and avoid falling victim to unverified news, rumours, or misinformation that could incite panic or disturb the peace and harmony of the state.
In a press release issued by Chief Secretary P K Singh on Tuesday, the government expressed concern over the actions of certain individuals and groups who might deliberately spread false information, inflammatory content, or fabricated stories in an attempt to create unrest and disrupt social cohesion.
“These malicious attempts are designed to sow fear and lawlessness. The public is strongly advised to disregard such misinformation and provocations,” the release stated.
To combat this issue, the government has established a 24/7 Control Room where citizens can verify any news or information they encounter.
