Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh flagged off SpiceJet’s direct flight services from Imphal to Guwahati, Kolkata and Mumbai at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport on Tuesday.
CM Singh said the introduction of the new air route would enhance connectivity between Manipur and major cities across the country, while also offering greater convenience to the travelling public.
In a post on ‘X’, CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh wrote, “Inaugurated the Imphal–Guwahati, Imphal–Kolkata and Imphal – Mumbai SpiceJet air services today at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, in the presence of the Hon’ble Member of Parliament and senior officials of the airline.”
This event marks a major boost to the state’s air connectivity with SpiceJet’s first-ever operations to Aizawl. At the same time, it significantly expands air connectivity to the Northeast, especially as the state continues to face limited links with major Indian cities.
