IMPHAL: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has urged the ministers and MLAs to host lunch at different relief camps on the occasion of Independence Day.
The chief minister also requested the ministers and legislators to have lunch with the inmates of the camps.
Addressing the “Tiranga Concerts” as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign’ under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, CM Singh asked all the elected representatives to interact with the inmates to address their problems and grievances.
Notably, the state government has established 302 relief camps to provide shelter to 59,414 men, women, and children, who were displaced due to the ethnic violence since May last year.

Speaking at the occasion, the chief minister appealed to the State’s people to volunteer to clean the statues of the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the motherland and pay floral tributes.
He said that the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign has brought a sense of nationalism, unity, and oneness among people.
Singh instructed the Director General of Police to conduct a motorbike rally on August 15, with mass participation from youths.
He also appealed to the people of Manipur to participate in rallies, street plays, marathons, and painting competitions being organized under the campaign.
