IMPHAL: A convoy of 133 loaded trucks carrying essential supplies finally reached Manipur’s Imphal on Wednesday after being stranded along NH-37 over the past few days due to landslides triggered by incessant rain and an indefinite bandh.
Among the trucks include 30 diesel tankers, 45 petrol tankers, two mixed tankers, four tankers loaded with ATF, 22 bullet tankers, nine cement-loaded trucks, nine fertilizers-loaded trucks, six trucks loaded with other goods, and four empty trucks.
However, 65 trucks, including 18 fuel tankers and 23 bullet tankers, are still stranded in Jiribam.
To address the fuel shortage concerns, an IOCL official assured that adequate fuel will be provided to fuel outlets starting Thursday.
The official said that the recent panic buying and long queue outside fuel pumps was due to a temporary disruption in supply caused by the weekend holidays.
Due to concerns about fuel shortages, people began purchasing fuel in large quantities, leading to many retail outlets quickly running out of stock.

With the resumption of fuel supply, the official urged the public to avoid panic buying and reassured them that there would be no shortage of fuel.
The state government assured the residents that there would be no disruption in the availability of petroleum products and instructed all petrol stations to operate as usual.
