IMPHAL: The last rites of Major M Pritam Singh, a brave soldier from Manipur who tragically lost his life while serving in the treacherous terrain of the Siachen Sector on April 3, were conducted in Imphal West on Friday.
The cremation ceremony, which took place at 4 pm on Friday, was conducted with full military honours, as senior military officials, representatives of the civil administration, and grieving family members bid farewell to the hero.
Earlier in the day, the mortal remains of Major Singh arrived at Imphal Airport, where they were received with solemnity and reverence by senior military officers.
Following military traditions, the body was then solemnly transported to the officer’s residence in Luker, Imphal West district, where grieving family members and comrades gathered to bid their final farewells.
On April 3, Major Singh bravely succumbed to the harsh climatic conditions of the Siachen Sector, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering dedication and service to the nation.
In a poignant tribute, the Siachen Warriors congregated in a solemn ceremony at Hunder, Ladakh, against the stark backdrop of the Siachen Sector’s unforgiving terrain.

Major M Pritam Singh’s journey in the Indian Army began on December 9, 2017, when he was commissioned into service after completing his training at the prestigious Army Cadet College and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.
Known for his athletic prowess, Major Singh leaves behind a legacy of courage and selflessness that will forever inspire his comrades-in-arms.
As the nation mourns the loss of Major Singh, his indomitable spirit and sacrifice serve as a reminder of the unyielding dedication and valour demonstrated by the Indian Army.
