Govt committed to upgrading Manipur University with world-class infra: Manipur CM

Imphal: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh inaugurated the Art and Culture building and an open gym at Manipur University, Canchipur on Monday.

The chief minister also laid the foundation stones for a 33/11 KVA Substation and a swimming pool within the university campus.

“Besides the Open Gym and the Art & Culture Building inaugurated today, a swimming pool will be constructed while a 33/11 Kv Electrical Sub-Station will be installed,” CM Biren Singh wrote on social media.

Singh said, “We remain committed to upgrading Manipur University with world-class infrastructure and the best facilities which are essential for the growth & advancement of the varsity in various fields.”

Singh reiterated the state government’s commitment to addressing the university’s concerns and gave assurances that the construction of the swimming pool would be completed within the next year.

He also urged universities to address public concerns about border fencing and other issues through seminars and legal awareness camps.

He expressed his hope for peace and emphasized the importance of discussions among faculty, researchers, and students to gain a deeper understanding of the current conflicts.

Earlier in the day, CM Biren Singh laid the foundation stone for multi-storied government quarters at Langol Housing Complex, Imphal West.

The chief minister said, “We continue to deliver essential infrastructure in both urban & rural sectors of the state to facilitate the effective functioning of the administration, governance, and law enforcement, creating a conducive atmosphere for the growth, quality of life, and sustainability of our citizens.”

He said the new government quarters will provide modern amenities and facilities by maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality for its residents.
