Imphal: Former Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh has extended birthday greetings to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, expressing the state’s gratitude for his unwavering efforts in promoting peace and harmony among its communities.
Union Minister Amit Shah turned 60 on Tuesday.
Biren Singh, in a post on X, said, “Warm birthday greetings to Hon’ble Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah ji. Your unwavering dedication to the nation continues to inspire millions.”
Singh added, “Manipur remains deeply grateful for your steadfast support, especially during our most testing times, and for your efforts in fostering peace and unity among communities. May you be blessed with good health, long life, and continued strength to lead our nation with wisdom and courage.”
“Your visits, words of encouragement, and sincere efforts to restore peace and harmony have shown that Manipur holds a special place in your heart,” he stated.
More than 260 people have been killed and thousands rendered homeless in ethnic violence between Meiteis and Kuki-Zo groups since May 2023.

The Centre imposed President’s Rule in Manipur on February 13, 2025, following the resignation of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh amid escalating ethnic violence and political instability. The state assembly, which has a tenure till 2027, has been put under suspended animation.
