Imphal: Police have registered an FIR against BJP MLA L. Susindro Meitei in connection with the alleged demolition of an under-construction school building in Imphal East district, officials said on Wednesday.
The case stems from a complaint filed by Konsam Santosh Meitei, a site supervisor at the project, who alleged that the school structure at Khurai Heigrumakhong was forcibly demolished on January 18 using an excavator, purportedly on the MLA’s instructions.
According to police, the FIR has been lodged under sections relating to criminal trespass, house trespass and causing damage to public property under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984.
The complaint stated that the construction of the Khurai Heikrumakhong Junior High School was being carried out with funds from the North Eastern Special Infrastructure Development Scheme of the North Eastern Council, and that the project was being executed by the education engineering wing of the Manipur government.

The FIR further noted that the legislator had allegedly claimed in local newspapers and on social media that he himself had ordered the demolition of the structure.
It also alleged that the MLA had earlier warned the site supervisor to halt construction, citing the unsuitability of the site, and cautioned that the building would be demolished if work continued.
Police said further investigation into the matter is underway.
