Imphal: In a series of coordinated operations, security forces have arrested eight militants belonging to different banned outfits from across five districts of Manipur over the past 24 hours, officials said on Sunday.
According to police, those apprehended are members of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
The arrests were made during separate raids in Jiribam, Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, and Kakching districts.
Police said the arrested militants were involved in multiple criminal activities, including extortion, threats, and forced collection of money from government officials, contractors, and civilians.

During the operations, security forces also seized small arms, an improvised explosive device (IED), Aadhaar and PAN cards, several mobile phones with multiple SIM cards, and a vehicle used by the militants.
In a separate operation in Kangpokpi district, security personnel recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, including five locally made bolt-action single-barrel guns, two wireless sets, and combat gear.
Officials said intensified counter-insurgency operations are underway across the state to curb militant activities and restore stability amid the fragile law-and-order situation in the region.
