Imphal: The Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Daljit Singh Chawdhary, has conducted a comprehensive review of the law and order situation in violence-hit Manipur.
During his two-day visit on September 28, Chawdhary assessed the operational readiness of the paramilitary force in light of the recent escalation in violence in the state.
A BSF spokesperson stated that Chawdhary, a seasoned IPS officer, conducted a thorough assessment of the operational landscape and the force’s preparedness to address the increased violence in Manipur.
He visited several BSF deployments, interacted with force personnel, and commended their efforts to maintain peace in the trouble-torn state.
During his visit to the Sub-Headquarters BSF CI (Ops) in Manipur, DG Chawdhary conducted a Sainik Sammelan and addressed the officers and troops.
Several battalions of BSF had been deployed in Manipur after the ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities broke out in the northeastern state.
The BSF has also been tasked with maintaining security along the state’s approximately 400 km unfenced border with Myanmar.

The BSF’s Additional Director General (Eastern Command), Ravi Gandhi, briefed DG BSF on the prevailing security scenario in Manipur.
Chawdhary also held discussions with senior officials, including the Inspector General of Mizoram and Cachar frontier Sanjay Kumar Misra and the Deputy Inspector General of Sector CI (Ops) Manipur, to gain insights into the latest developments in various districts.
