Imphal: As Manipur continues to grapple with ongoing conflict, Assam Rifles has emerged as a steadfast guardian, extending a compassionate hand to its people. The security force recently organized a series of Mega Medical Camps across the state, offering much-needed healthcare to thousands affected by displacement and unrest.

From November 18 to 25, 2024, a team of 19 specialist doctors from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) joined forces with Assam Rifles to provide comprehensive medical care. These dedicated professionals traveled from Maharashtra and Karnataka to reach remote corners of Manipur, bringing hope to those in dire need.

In the heart of Lilong, a village scarred by conflict, over 1,200 residents, including women, children, and the elderly, received free consultations, medicines, and life-saving diagnoses. Ibrahim, an elderly villager, expressed his gratitude, stating, “For years, we’ve lived in fear and suffering. Today, I saw hope.”

The medical teams extended their reach to Sora and Tengnoupal, offering essential healthcare services to thousands of displaced individuals. The focus was on maternal and child health, as well as general medical care.

Families with young children found solace in the expertise of the attending doctors, who worked tirelessly to ensure every patient received the attention they needed.

In Chakpikarong and Tegnoupal, the Mega Medical Camps provided a wide range of services, including pediatrics, dermatology, ENT, ophthalmology, and general medicine. Hundreds of villagers benefitted from these initiatives, receiving free consultations and medications.

“These medical camps are more than just healthcare events; they are a testament to the power of compassion and the unwavering commitment of Assam Rifles to the people of Manipur. By bridging the gap between healthcare providers and those in need, the security force has fostered a sense of trust and unity within the community,” said an Assam Rifles official.
