Imphal: Security forces recovered a cache of arms and explosives and arrested two militants in separate operations across Manipur, police said on Tuesday.
The recoveries were made from areas near Bongmol and SL Zougam villages in Tengnoupal district, where security personnel unearthed warlike stores during search operations.
The seized items included an AK-47 rifle with a magazine, two pistols, two single-barrel rifles, 11 live rounds of ammunition, three radio sets and IED wires.
Police said 18 improvised explosive devices were also recovered from the site and were safely disposed of by security teams on the spot.
In a separate operation in Imphal West district, two militants affiliated with different proscribed outfits were arrested.

A cadre of the banned Peoples’ Liberation Army was apprehended from his residence at Lambal Awang Leikai on Monday, while a member of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup was arrested on Sunday from Mayang Imphal.
Manipur has been witnessing prolonged ethnic violence since May 3, 2023, following a tribal solidarity march in the hill districts against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe status.
The unrest has so far claimed at least 260 lives, including civilians from the Kuki and Meitei communities and security personnel, and displaced thousands.
The state has been under President’s Rule since February last year.
